Europe forecast - February 03, 2018
Very Unsettled
Often Cold

Issued: 0530hrs Saturday 3rd February 2018
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Often unsettled, cold in the north, milder in the south and south-east

Saturday
Into Saturday and low pressure will certainly be the dominant weather type across much of Europe. Rain, sleet and some snow potentially developing across the British Isles, while further snow is expected across parts of Norway, Sweden and Finland where it will be very cold indeed. Low pressure near to Italy maintains a lot of unsettled weather through the Med, with widespread rain and showers, of which will spread into Greece and surrounding countries through the day. Best conditions likely through Spain and Portugal, but even here some showery weather may develop, from the north-west, later in the day.

Sunday
On Sunday and higher pressure is likely to bring about some drier weather across the British Isles and up towards Scandinavia, but with a very cold north-easterly wind developing across much of Germany, Poland, Finland, Sweden, towards France and into the British Isles too. Low pressure, with sleet and snow is expected across far eastern areas of Europe, while showery weather dominates across Spain and Portugal, rather cold here too. Best of the weather across parts of Italy, where sunny spells are likely and just a few showers but even here rather cold.
