Morning Call - December 29, 2017
An unsettled day ahead
Rain, sleet and snow expected

Issued: 0530hrs Friday 29th December 2017
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Unsettled weather with rain, sleet and snow spreading north and east

Good morning,

It's an unsettled start to the day as outbreaks of rain spread north and east across many areas but of which will turn readily to sleet and snow across N England and S Scotland as the morning progresses, particularly on higher ground where some significant accumulations are certainly possible.

Through the afternoon and an awkward mix of rain, sleet and snow across N England, Scotland and N Ireland will slowly ease, while conditions will also improve across more central and southern areas of England and Wales with some sunny spells, after the morning rain here clears to the east. Relatively mild across southern areas, but cold in the north.

Into the evening and overnight and patchy rain, sleet and hill snow in the north will slowly clear allowing for some frost or icy patches to develop, while at the same time a renewed spell of wet weather will move into more southern and south-western areas of England and Wales.

Matthew
