Issued: 0530hrs Wednesday 8th November 2017
Duty forecaster: Matthew Hugo

Cold and frosty start to Wednesday for many, wet and windy across Scotland and Ireland, fine and dry with some sunshine across England and Wales.

Good morning,

We have a chilly start to Wednesday across many areas, but especially across the countryside of England, Wales and S Scotland with some frost certainly present. Dry weather, with some sunny spells will be maintained through much of the morning across the majority of the British Isles, but wetter and windier weather will move into N Ireland and W Scotland by noon.

Through Wednesday afternoon and wet and windy weather will dominuate across much of Scotland and Ireland, some locally very strong winds across Scotland in particular. Much of England and Wales though will maintain mainly dry conditions with some bright or sunny spells, despite increasing amounts of cloud and with, eventually, some damp weather sinking southwards into N England by the end of the afternoon. Highs 8C to 12C

Into Wednesday evening and overnight and cloud and damp weather across more northern and western areas will continue to sink southwards, but with a lot of dry weather still being maintained across central and southern areas of England in particular.
