Morning Call - April 02, 2018
Cold, rain & snow
Less wet south later

Issued: 0530hrs Monday 2nd April 2018
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Rain and snow spread north, some of it heavy, becoming drier to the south

Good morning,

You'd be forgiven for thinking it was January rather than April today! Low pressure is pushing a band of rain through Northern Ireland and much of northern and central England and Wales this morning, this is falling as snow over the hills, but there is going to be some at lower levels in the north too. Significant falls of snow could occur in the next few hours in northern England and southern Scotland.

Showers follow to southern England and southern Wales as well as southern Ireland. These heavy and thundery at times. Drier in Scotland although a few showers in the far north of Scotland at first. Rain and snow then arrives in southern Scotland, most of the snow on hills before rain and snow spread north.

Milder weather into much of central and southern England, Wales and Ireland as the showers move in. Stying cold in northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The risk of some more persistent rain in southeast England through the later afternoon and evening.
