Showers far north-west, snow on mountains

Good morning,

A complex trough of low pressure passes eastwards across central & southern England, bringing heavy rain for several hours, which will only gradually clear across East Anglia into this afternoon.

Brighter skies follow from the west, and it will be a mostly dry and bright day for Wales, plus west & northern England, with just scattered showers.

Showery for western Scotland & Ireland - heavy bursts with hail and thunder possible. Snow over the mountains, locally falling to quite low elevations in western Scotland, and giving a covering on higher terrain.

Strong and gusty winds as fronts move across south-east England. A cool westerly breeze affects most areas into the afternoon and evening.

Today's top temperatures will reach 10 to 12C in central & southern areas, but nearer 7 or 8C in Scotland and Ireland.

This evening will be chilly, especially in the wind, with temperatures around 5 to 8C. Many places will be dry through the evening, but there will be heavy showers spreading inland from many western coasts. Some spots dipping close to freezing before dawn on Sunday.

Have a great day.
