A few showers north

Rain advancing east across southern England

Good morning,

A small area of low pressure moves across southern Britain today, with fronts bringing a period of heavy rain and gusty winds.

Rain is likely to be on and off for central & southern Britain much of the day, but a more organised zone of heavy rain is expected to track across the far south during the afternoon, reaching the south-east into the evening. Some places could see an inch of rain or more over a few hours (25-30mm+), but this may be quite localised.

Scattered showers and sunny spells for northern England, Scotland & Northern Ireland. A ridge of high pressure builds to the north-west of the British Isles, which will topple east to give a fair day on Wednesday.

Strong south-westerly winds for English Channel coasts, although winds fairly light elsewhere. Temperatures between 16 and 21C, warmest in the south-east away from rain.

Have a great day.
