Dry & bright north

Showers northern Scotland, snow on mountains

Good morning,

High pressure lies to the south & west of Britain today, whilst low pressure is over Scandinavia. Many places should see a fair day, but there are a few complications!

There will be a cool north-westerly breeze, strongest in northern & eastern regions, up to gale force around the Northern Isles. A front coming down from the north brings showers to northern Scotland, with snow over the mountains.

A weak front trails across southern England & Wales, producing patchy light rain or drizzle, particularly in western regions, where it may stay damp and unpleasant for many hours. Drizzly rain will tend to extend further east across southern England as the day progresses.

The best of dry and bright weather should be across north-east England, plus central-southern Scotland and Northern Ireland, with good sunny spells. A few brief showers may come into the north-west of England from the Irish Sea.

Today's top temperatures will be 7 to 9C for many, but locally 11 or 12C in the far south-west. Nearer 5C in the Scottish Highlands.

Have a great day.
Garry
