Blustery winds

Good morning,

A deep area of low pressure is centred toward the north-west of the British Isles today, and a frontal system passes quickly eastwards across the country.

A period of persistent rain passes eastwards during the morning, heaviest and most prolonged for the west & north, but tending to fragment as it crosses central-southern England, so may result in only small amounts in the south-east.

East Anglia should stay dry for a few hours before the rain arrives in the middle of the day.

Brightening skies will develop during the morning for south-western regions as a cold front clears, with sunny spells extending across Wales into the Midlands into the afternoon and evening. Showers follow for Northern Ireland.

Strong southerly winds, particularly on exposed coasts and hills, veering westerly from the west. Today's top temperatures will be 17 to 22C, but cooler where rain persists.
