Seasonal outlook - March 30, 2018
Mixed early summer
Wet late May & June

Issued: Friday 30th March 2018
Duty forecasters: Simon Keeling & Garry Nicholson

*May*
Our current ideas are that the start of May is likely to be better than the end of the month.
Higher pressure may dominate at first bringing dry weather and good spells of sunshine. It is likely to be a milder start to the month, perhaps with an odd warm day.
Into the middle of the month outbreaks of rain and showers may encroach into western Ireland and southwest England.
Towards the end of the month conditions may become more unsettled, especially in the south and west with all places then wetter as the month ends.

*June*
The start of the month is likely to be unsettled with wind and rain.
Wet weather could last into the middle stages of the month when there will be strong winds and heavy periods of rain too. It may also be cool.
The second half of June is likely to be better with sunny sells and drier weather as well as being warmer.
