Colder For All
Perhaps Very Cold

Cold or very cold weather set to develop but still with some uncertainties

For the weather for the next few days click here

Thursday 22/2/18
Pressure may continue to remain high to the east or north-east as an E or NE'ly wind continues to develop, especially so across England and Wales. Broken cloud with the best of any brightness to the north, while wintry flurries remain a risk in the south-east, although note that confidence in the detail of the forecast remains low. Winds light or moderate E or NE'ly for most, but still SW'ly in the far north and west. Highs at 2C to 5C, widespread frosts.

Friday 23/2/18
Increasing confidence that cold or perhaps very cold conditions will develop during Friday as the easterly winds continue. It brings some light snow flurries into some southern and south-eastern areas, whilst the north and west should be drier but still cold despite some sunny spells. Winds E'ly for most, perhaps fresh in the south and east, but still more S or SW'ly in the far west and north-west of the British Isles. Highs at 1C to 4C, widespread frosts.

Saturday 24/2/18
Staying cold and rather cloudy in a stiff east or south-easterly wind on Saturday. Further snow flurries are likely, especially in eastern areas with the best of any brightness in the north and west, but perhaps with some sleet and snow developing in the far west later. Low risk of very cold weather arriving from the east later in the day with a greater risk of snow showers. Highs 0C to 4C.

Sunday 25/2/18
Still only low to medium confidence in all aspects of the forecast but likely remaining cold or very cold with a continuation of the weather from previous days. Snow flurries possible in the south and east, perhaps with some rain, sleet snow in the far west, otherwise mainly dry with some sunshine but with a low risk of more widespread snow showers in eastern areas later. Moderate or fresh E or SE'ly wind for many, maintaining a possible marked wind-chill factor too. Highs 0C to 4C.

Monday 26/2/18
Low confidence but a blocked weather pattern remains likely with winds either from the east or south-east, moderate or perhaps fresh. Further wintry flurries possible, but low confidence where, while longer spells of rain, sleet and snow remain a risk across far west and south-western areas. Increasing risk of very cold if not bitterly cold weather developing from the east. Highs 0C to 3C, widespread harsh frosts and icy conditions.

Tuesday 27/2/18
Low confidence but a likely continuation of the very wintry weather is likely across many areas of the British Isles with perhaps a more widespread risk of snow by this point, perhaps with locally significant accumulations. Risk of a bitterly cold easterly wind, widespread frosts and icy conditions. Highs -1C to 3C.
