Early chill & showers
Turning milder & drier

Issued: 0900 Thursday 14th September 2017
Duty forecaster: Simon Keeling

Cool and showery few days, then tending to become drier and milder for many

Cool conditions persist into the weekend with a mix of sunshine and showers. A tendency for the showers to become more scattered as the weekend progresses and this leads to a bright and dry start to next week. Becoming milder next week as well and tending to be drier, although rain will affect some in the middle of the week.

Sunday 17/9/17
Low pressure remains to the east although overall pressure is going to be rising from the west through Sunday. This should bring a drier and brighter day for many. There will still be some showers affecting eastern coasts of England, and an odd one in southwest England. The majority of places will be dry with sunny spells. Highs at 14 to 18C.

Monday 18/9/17
Indications are that a ridge of high pressure builds on Monday. This is going to be bringing a chilly start for many. The day should be dry with good spells of sunshine, although there is a risk of some showers affecting eastern coasts. Increasing cloud brings rain into Ireland and western Scotland later. Highs at a milder 14 to 19C.

Tuesday 19/9/17
A ridge of high pressure builds through the country on Tuesday. Low pressure to the east brings some showers on eastern coasts. Dry for most with sunny spells, although some low cloud affecting northwest Scotland and western Ireland. Highs at 14 to 20C.

Wednesday 20/9/17
A ridge of high pressure is maintained in eastern and southern areas on Wednesday. A front brings stronger winds, cloud and some rain into Ireland and western Scotland. Tops near 15 to 22C.

Thursday 21/9/17
A front brings cloud and rain into western Scotland and Ireland on Thursday, breezy conditions here too. Much of England and Wales stay dry with sunny spells, although there may be thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain in the far west. Highs at 15 to 22C.

Friday 22/9/17
Fronts may edge slowly east on Friday bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain. There could be some heavier bursts at times. Highs at 14 to 19C.
