A changeable weather pattern in the days ahead, with sunshine and showers. Early next week, high pressure builds briefly across the country, giving a couple of largely dry days. Later in the week, fronts are likely to return from the west, bringing rain at times. Temperatures rising, very warm at times in the south.

Sunday 23/07/17
Low pressure lies to the east of Britain, whilst high pressure tries to build from the south-west. A mix of sunshine and scattered showers, although locally in east & northern areas the showers may become slow-moving and heavy into the afternoon. Best chance for staying dry is toward the south-west of England, and much of Wales. Winds variable, mainly west or north-westerly, gusty near showers. Highs 17 to 22C, up to 24C south-east.

Monday 24/07/17
Pressure builds slowly, although a rather slack weather pattern resides across the country. A few showers may break out by afternoon down the spine of the country, perhaps focused more toward the east of the Pennines and the Midlands. Good spells of sunshine for west & south-western Britain and much of Ireland. Light north-westerly winds, although eastern coasts may be breezy. Highs 18 to 23C, or 25C south-east.

Tuesday 25/07/17
A ridge of high pressure is likely to extend across the country, bringing a fair day to many places. Good amounts of sunshine overall. Cloud may thicken in the west as a weak front drifts in from the Atlantic. This may give patchy rain or drizzle for Ireland and perhaps later north-western Britain. Warm in the south, 23 to 26C, but nearer 17 to 20C north-west.

Wednesday 26/07/17
Fronts are expected to advance into Ireland and western Britain, bringing strengthening winds and outbreaks of rain - this may turn persistent across western areas as the day progresses. However ahead of this rain, much of Britain may see another dry and bright day. Feeling warm, and more humid, highs 22 to 27C.

Thursday 27/07/17
A band of rain is likely to pass eastwards, although timing uncertain, followed by brighter skies and showers, which may be frequent in the north-west. Cloudy and humid in the south-east, fresher in the west. Blustery south-westerly winds. Highs 18 to 24C.

Friday 28/07/17
A changeable pattern is likely, with west to south-westerly winds bringing rain or showers, most frequent toward the west & north-west. However, east & south-eastern areas may stay often dry with some sun. Highs 17 to 23C.
