Mixed with rain and strong winds at times, staying chilly

A mixed week ahead albeit a rather chilly one. Bands of rain will be passing from west to east bringing some heavy periods of rain in the west, although less to the east. It may be windy at times with a risk of gales in western and northern areas. Probably less cold for a time into next week.

Saturday 10/2/18
A widespread frost on Saturday morning as a ridge of high pressure builds through England and Wales. Increasing winds over Scotland and Ireland ahead of a frontal system moving in from the Atlantic. This will be bringing rain, some of it heavy with a risk of gales in Sotland and northern England as the rain bands moves eastwards. The rain moves quickly east through the day bringing rain as far as eastern England by late afternoon. Highs at a slightly milder 4 to 7C.


Sunday 11/2/18
A westerly flow on Sunday bringing some sunny spells for many areas at first. However, showers in western Scotland and Ireland will be edging east through the day. These turn to snow as the reach western England and Wales. Dry and brighter in the east and south although feeling cooler through the day. Highs at 3 to 8C, but cooler weather arrives from the west through the day.


Monday 12/2/18
Fair in eastern England with sunny spells as a ridge of high pressure builds. Showers arrive on western coasts, most of them scattered. However, heavier showers, turning wintry in the west of Scotland and Ireland. Highs at 3 to 6C.

 
 
 


Tuesday 13/2/18
Higher pressure over southern and eastern areas on Tuesday, although there could be a few showers across southern England. Windier weather to the west as rain spreads from the Atlantic into Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 4 to 7C.


Wednesday 14/2/18
A front brings wind and rain from the west on Wednesday. The rain could be heavy at times and is going to be followed by cooler and brighter weather from the west. There will be showers, some of them heavy. Highs at 4 to 7C.

Thursday 15/2/18
A bright day with sunny spells as a ridge of high pressure persists over much of England and Wales. Increased winds and some rain arriving in the far west of Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 5 to 8C.
